Roatan Islands, Honduras

My wife and I, along with some friends, went on a cruise recently. It was a 7 day cruise, and by the last stop I was ready to break off from the group with my camera and explore the island. The last port before home was the Roatan Islands in Honduras. My wife and our friends took a taxi to one of the beaches, while I started walking north west. The area outside the port seemed depressed, but it didn’t seem dangerous. I met a few people along the way, a few kids just getting out of school and some fishermen who had just returned from a charter. There were a few Americans from Portland, OR that lived on the island for most of the year.

I made it about four miles in when I noticed one of the locals yelling at me from a house I had photographed about 100 yards back. I couldn’t understand a word he was saying but, it was clear that he wasn’t happy. He began to head in my direction carrying a machete. At this point it is obvious that I have gotten way over my head. I’m slightly outgunned, it’s not like I am going to fight him off with my canon zoom lens. So, I begin to make my way back to the boat. His pace becomes a little more frantic, so I am becoming a little m0re frantic. Luckily, a taxi stopped when crazy guy with the machete really started closing in. I have never been so excited to see a Toyota Corolla in my life.

I was able to get some fantastic photos and get back to the boat without having any limbs hacked off by angry local guy.

Hello Everyone,

Over the next week or two I will be working on the site redesign. The bulk of the changes have been made, but there are still some things I would like to get taken care of. In the mean time, enjoy the new layout and let me know if you have any comments or suggestions.

I was invited to shoot Matt and Kira Fox’s baby boy Preston when he had just turned 3 months old. Both Matt and Kira were dear friends from college and had relocated to North Carolina after school. With the way my schedule worked out, I think I only spent about 30 hours in the state of North Carolina. But, we had enough time to get some really great photos.

A few months ago my daughter and I were both surprised with matching pairs of Chuck Taylors. I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to get some really great photos with her at Maclay Gardens. We had a great time that afternoon and I ended up taking some photos that I will cherish for as long as I am on this earth.

Art in Public Places City Hall Show

Starting tomorrow through March 24, 2010 I have been given the opportunity to display some of my photos at City Hall in Tallahassee. Ten of my photos are being shown along with some of Randy and Debby Brienen’s paintings. If you are looking to burn an afternoon in the Capital City, you should head to the second floor of City Hall. New Year. New Website.

We’ve been working for the last few weeks to get the new website setup by the opening of our City Hall show.

The show opens tomorrow ( January 13th) and we’ve got the bulk of the website taken care of. I’ll be doing a few more updates, setting up more galleries, and getting the contact me portion setup.
